The Horses - Our Therapists and Best Friends
Ahote Ahote is the cinnamon and white appaloosa living with Wyatt. This 16 hand fellow was donated to Hoofprints by a local physician. He is happiest when getting attention from humans. Gentle and easy going is his normal disposition. Ahote means "restless one" in Navaho, especially if left alone but he proves to be a gentle companion for our riders.
Danny
Danny is a 14 hand Fleabitten Grey speckled Welsh pony who is loved by all the kids. He is just their size and since he too has a disability, he seems to understand his riders. This very spirited fellow was an accomplished dressage show pony and also did some jumping in his former life.
Smokey
Smokey has been at Hagemann longer than any of the humans or horses. He belonged to Steve Vasey who cared for the property before Hoofprints came to the ranch. After some training, Smokey became a program horse. He loves his new job and all the attention that comes with it. He is the friendly bay horse waiting at the fence to say hello when people enter the track area. Smokey is 16 hands tall with soft eyes and a very gentle disposition. He is patient and sensitive to our special needs children and adults.
JasmineJasmine is the prima dona of Hoofprints. As the only mare, she loves the attention lavished on her by humans and horses alike. At 14.1 hands, she is the perfect size for our program. She knows voice commands so coupled with her smooth gaits she provides our riders with confidence and comfort. She was a therapy horse at a former therapeutic riding center in Los Gatos and knows her job well.
Ace
Ace is a 16 year old Feabitten Grey Quarter Horse. Despite his size and youthfulness Ace is our most social horse, always coming to the fence to greet anyone walking by. He has a gentle but playful nature and is a terrific program horse for our adult and young riders.
